A little while back we talked about if it was safe to vacation in Puerto Vallarta or not (which it is, by the way). In that post I made the argument that in many ways it’s actually safer than America. Well today we’re doing a follow up post comparing the top crime stats in both Mexico and America.

Rapes      14,373

Software piracy rate      61%
Total crimes      1,516,029

-Additional Mexico crime stats-

If you look at the main crime that tourists worry about (assaults and robberies) they are significantly less in Mexico than they are in America. However, like we mentioned last time, a lot of it has to do with where you are. The best thing is to do some research before you go to know where to go and, more importantly, where not to go.

Stay safe, thanks for reading, and happy vacationing!

While I love Mexico and find the stats compelling. I have to ask myself having been in the country several times, where did this come from?
Many crimes go unreported in both countries and while it is difficult at best, Mexico has little to be desired as far as help with crime. We are a country (stat proven) to have more prisoner than anywhere else; Is this because we are more policed or more crime?
Regardless I love Mexico, just not sure that this represents the truth.
